Photoshop Tips
These are some tips I would like to offer after learning quite a bit about Photoshop. • Hue/saturation: negative saturation = less color. Can go all the way to black & white or hang out somewhere in between. With in between, makes pics look really professional (think examples of kids themes on Walker Studio’s website) • New adjustment layer works really well with this…lots of really cool things we can do with adjustment layers • When adjustment layer is used with hue/saturation, can use eraser tool to make certain colors or objects really pop. Can then add another adjustment layer (hue/saturation) and tone down those colors we popped. • Always make new duplicate layer when making adjustments. That way if you ever don’t like what you’ve done, you can always have your original right there handy. Use duplicate layer when working with magnetic lasso – cutting & pasting, making backgrounds blurry, making adjustment layers, etc. • Magnetic lasso can be used to trace around people/things & cut them out. To go back & delete certain points in the lasso just hit the delete button. Can undo as many as you want this way. • Patch tool (can select this or band aid - under same tool) used to select a rather large area & then move to another part. Makes the area selected look more like the part it’s moved to. • New adjustment layer – fun stuff! Use this to go to gradient map, then select metals; use on that looks black & white striped. Makes pic look very classy - black & white. There are a lot of other options under gradient map that look really cool, too. • Go filter; sharpen; unsharp mask to make eyes really pop – not too much, or it’ll start looking fake & you’ll start getting details you don’t really want in.
